Double Duty Desks

In small spaces the best type of furniture is multi-functional. That’s why I need a double duty desk for an added office space to my open concept living room.

My ideal living space would be very minimal, but since I am a pack rat (something I got from my mother , I’m sure) this style isn’t realistic. Still, I try my best to achieve a simplistic and functional look with a hint of “decorative clutter”. My living room is an open concept that looks into the kitchen and dining areas, separated by a breakfast bar. All three of these spaces create a rectangular, narrow shape. I don’t have a lot of extra space but now that I have a blog, I want an area where I can work and concentrate. My current work area is my bed, and I don’t think its any good for my back. Also, it is way too tempting to take naps!

I have been looking into office desks that would work for my space, and have seen a lot of desks that are connected to bookshelves or where the shelf itself is the desktop. These are very popular and I can see why, they serve perfectly as a desk and storage for displaying decorations. Of course, I also love the idea of having more space to add plants! So, for a few examples of my favorite desk inspirations, read on!

Honorable Mentions:

These desks may not have bookshelves, but I love their style and are worth mentioning. I am interested in the idea of a simple long table top either on trestle legs or cabinets. The clean lines of the desk would lend well to a minimal look in my living room.
